1. Field of the Invention
The present invention relates to a light source device and a light scanning device, and more particularly to a light source device for a scanner and a light scanning device that are to be used in a laser scanning unit of a laser printer.
2. Description of the Related Art
A laser printer uses a laser beam, and a photosensitive drum or a photosensitive belt is irradiated with the laser beam, and charged by a charger. The laser beam is modulated in accordance with image information so that the photosensitive drum is irradiated with the laser beam in dots. The photo-sensitive drum is then passed around a portion of a paper, and discharged by a cleaning device.
A laser beam scanning unit of a laser printer is disclosed in JP-A-2002-122888.
A laser beam from a laser diode is outputted through an optical system, including a collimator lens, and a cylindrical lens, and condensed onto a surface of a photosensitive drum. In a direction of main scanning (vertical direction), the laser beam is deflected at a constant speed by a light deflector. The laser beam reflected by the surface of the photosensitive drum is then received by a scanning photodiode, and its received light intensity is converted to electric signals. The electric signals are processed, and converted to image signals. A light scanning unit of a laser printer is disclosed in JP-A-2002-122888.
In the light scanning device, the laser beam outputted from the light source device is collimated by a collimator lens, and reflected by a reflection mirror. Then, the reflected light is converted to a parallel light beam by a cylindrical lens, and focused to a small spot of a diameter of about 0.5 mm by a fθ lens. The light spot is applied to a surface of a photosensitive drum, and scanned in a direction of main scanning, that is, in a direction of rotation of the photosensitive drum, and in a direction of sub scanning, that is, in a direction in which the photosensitive drum is moved.
As the light spot is scanned by the surface of the photosensitive drum, the light spot is moved at a constant speed in the main scanning direction, and a constant time interval is provided
